A way forward
For people who want to move confidently again
Back pain can make ordinary movement feel uncertain. You may have tried rest, stretching or short-term treatment, only for the same problem to return.
My goal is not to make you dependent on treatment or ask you to push through pain. I help you understand what is happening, begin at a pain-free starting point, and gradually rebuild the movement and strength your back needs for everyday life.
A personal welcome
A different way to approach persistent back pain

The Oak method
A different approach to rebuilding your back
The aim is not simply to treat the painful area. I help you reclaim the movements your body has lost, build strength through those ranges and learn how to look after your own body.
01
Understand your starting point
I listen to the history of your problem, what you have stopped trusting and what you want to return to. I assess how your spine, hips and surrounding joints move, explain what I believe is happening and give you a clear plan.
02
Restore pain-free movement
Your spine is designed to forward bend, back bend, side bend and rotate. Your hips need rotation and your upper back needs to open. Hands-on treatment and carefully selected movement help you begin reclaiming these positions without pushing through pain.
03
Build strength and resilience
Once a movement feels comfortable, I help you gradually add range, control and resistance. Over time, your muscles and connective tissues adapt so bending, lifting and everyday movement feel strong and dependable again.
04
Learn to look after your body
I teach you how to strengthen, stretch and listen to your body. Depending on your starting point, that may include squatting, forward folding, hip rotation, pike, pancake, bridge and Jefferson curls—always introduced at a safe, pain-free level.

Why I do this work
My journey into rehabilitation began with pain.
I’m Luke—a registered osteopath, strength coach and yoga teacher. After multiple surgeries and life-altering injuries in my early twenties, I had to stop sport and exercise. I lost trust in my body and became afraid of injuring myself again.
Through osteopathy, strength and conditioning, yoga and years of structured rehabilitation, I gradually rebuilt my body. That experience became the foundation of the system I now use to help people move beyond repeated short-term fixes.
I want to empower you to become the mechanic of your own body—to understand its signals, learn the movements that help you and know how to keep developing your strength and mobility.
The starting point: a controlled 10 kg Jefferson curlThe result of gradual adaptation: a 225 kg deadlift
I didn’t start here.
Today I can deadlift 225 kilograms—but I built that strength gradually. My Jefferson curl began with five or ten kilograms, using comfortable ranges and giving my body time to adapt.
Your goal does not need to be lifting heavy weights. Strength may mean gardening, playing with your grandchildren, returning to the gym or simply trusting your back again. The principle is the same: begin where your body feels safe, then build from there.
Common questions
Before you book
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book an initial consultation directly.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing that allows you to move is ideal.

No. I will never ask you to push through pain. Your assessment and care are adapted to your current tolerance so we can find a safe, pain-free starting point and build gradually from there.
Does the first session include treatment?
Yes. After taking your history and completing the assessment, I begin hands-on treatment and movement work during the initial consultation and do as much as I safely can to help you.
